Imamate is a cardinal principle in Shiite Islam. As such, it is a post or status conferred by Allah on a personality already qualified for such a high responsibility. As all Shiite Infallible Imams proved the principle of imamate according to the socio-historical contexts of their time, Imam al-Husayn defined the right qualifications of the Infallible Imam to keep people away from being fooled and going astray.

Many Quranic verses have both apparent and metaphorical meanings. Some of such metaphorical meanings come from the exegeses produced by the Infallible Imams. From this perspective, what can be the deep meaning of the Quranic verse "And We have prepared a grat sacrifice for him"? Research into Quranic i terpretations prove that it refers to Imam al-Husayn in that he was the greatest sacrifice of Abraham's progeny. This outlook is asserted in an exegesis of the verse as highlighted by the 8th Infallible Imam Ali al-Reza, as quoted verbatim in early snd authoritative Shiite sources.

Anas b. Harith al-Kahili was a companion of the Prophet Muhammad; much later he joined the camp of Imam al-Husayn. As a companion of the Prophet Muhammad, he used to hear from the Prophet that Imam al-Husayn would be martyred in Iraq and everybody had to help him. Based on this Prophetic assertion, he joined Imam al-Husayn and remained loyal to him snd was finally martyred. He fought the enemy forces, killed 14 or 16 of them, and finally attained eternal felicity, martyrdom. His body was buried in the collective grave of the Ashura martyrs, just near the feet of Imam al-Husayn in Karbala.

Marthiya/ marsiya mskes an important daya for research into Husayni literature. As artistic expression makes the content more endurable, the poetic language of marthiya contributes to the eternal life of Husayni literature. The Iranian poet Shahriyar composed some poems to mark his devotion to Imam al-Husayn. In it, Shariyar renders a poetical rendition of the life and times of Imam al-Husayn from his leaving Medina to Mecca, and then to Karbala. In this way, he showed to be aware of thevhistorical-cum-doctrinal aspects of that phase of Shiite history.

The Ashura ziarat-text isca highly prestigious pilgrimage prayer in favor of Imam al-Husayn such that outstanding Shiite authorities have long insisted on its everyday recitation. It contains some phrasrs of cusing based on which some opponents of Shiites presume that they must be in contradiction with the Holy Quran and the Prophet Muhammad's life-style and conduct. Nowhere innthis ziarat-text is mentioned any of the first three post-Prophet rulers, and it is not abusing them, as this act is strictly forbidden in both the Holy Quran and the conduct of the Infallibles.

Belief in the Shiite faith makes a common ground between Iran and Lebanon. It follows that Ashura literature and its related themes arevcommon to both nations. The imposed wars on Iran and Lebanon also pushed the two nations to taking lessons from Ashura. Among the topics saliant in these literatures are the cases of Zaynab and Al-Abbas b. Ali. It is shown that Iranian poems are more sentimental and graphic than those produced in Lebanon.
