The episode of Karbala was a scene of joining and leaving certain people. Those who joined Imam al-Husayn became felicitous, and those who left him were the losers. As such, their lives may prove lessons for everybody. Examples of those who joined him include al-Hurr and Zuhayr b. al-Qayn, while others such as Ubayd Allah b. al-Hurr al-Ju`fi and Harthamah b. Abi Muslim were among the losers.
