In Ashura studies, it is understood that the Umayyad tyrant ruler Yazid viewed the two principles of imamate and encouraged people to do good and prohibiting them from committing evil as obstacles on his way. For removing these two principles, he imposed on people to pay allegiance to him in the first year of his reign. He committed the Ashura massacre for imposing more suffocating suppression and intimidating the public in his reign. Then, he proceeded to wipe out any mark of the genuine version of Islam. He aimed to obliterate whatever might pertain to the Islamic religion
