In addition to being a historic calamity, the event of Ashura at Karbala made a turning point in elucidation of Islamic religious rationality, social responsibility, and reconstruction of religious education in the Muslim world. After the event of Ashura, Hz. Zaynab delivered historic sermons in which she defended sagacious conduct and opposition against Umayyad tyranny. Based on the Holy Quran and hadiths, the present paper contains interdisciplinary analyses of her brave opposition, viewed from Quranic exegetical, philosophical, and discourse analyses, leading to her socio-rhetorical, behavioral, exegetical, and doctrinal highlights. The same methods can still prove influential in our present-day circumstances.
