Abstract
In recent times, special attention has been given to the roles of women as social actors to societal movements. This impact includes pilgrimage rituals, too.  The present paper focuses on the women who participated in the Arbaeen walk. Its findings reveal four main discourse areas: 1) devotion to Imam al-Husayn, 2) sentimental and political readiness for the reappearance of Imam al-Mahdi who is still in the state of major occultation, 3) receiving religious rewards, and 4) fulfilment of requests and being healed.
