An aim of mourning Imam al-Husayn and shedding tears in his favor is simply for universalizing the voice of his oppressedness. Other than manifesting people's ardent feelings and reactions in the face of the tragedy that took place. This stands in stark opposition against what some people like Ibn Taymiyyah and the Wahhabis accuse the Shiites of. Shiism is marked by its insistence on shedding tears for Imam al-Husayn.
