Abstract
The Imam Husayn movement has since inspired and taught thousands of people throughout history. The Egyptian man of letters Abd al-Rahman al-Sharqawi (1920-1987) was one of such people. He penned a compelling drama in which he portrayed certain Ashura scenes. It it, he does not intend to simply recount tragic scenes, rather he tries to extract lifestyle lessons, eg, self-esteem, sincerity, seeking justice, and opposing oppression and tyranny.
