The event of Ashura is regarded as a turning point in the history of Islam, producing profound political, social, and cultural consequences for the Muslim community, particularly for the Ahl al-Bayt (A.S.). Through propaganda, political repression, and the manipulation of public opinion, the Umayyad government sought to marginalize the Ahl al-Bayt (A.S.), undermine their religious and social status, and consolidate its own political legitimacy. Employing a descriptive–analytical approach and drawing upon historical and hadith sources, this study examines the strategies adopted by Imam al-Sajjad (A.S.) to transform society’s perception of the Ahl al-Bayt (A.S.). The findings indicate that Imam al-Sajjad (A.S.), by preserving and revitalizing the memory of Ashura, promoting Islamic teachings in the form of supplications, educating intellectual elites, supporting the oppressed and disadvantaged, and reconstructing the social capital of the Ahl al-Bayt (A.S.), successfully paved the way for the transition of Muslim society from hostility toward the Ahl al-Bayt to recognizing their spiritual authority. These strategies not only ensured the survival of Shi’ism but also laid the foundations for the intellectual and scholarly movement that flourished during the eras of Imam al-Baqir (A.S.) and Imam
al-Sadiq (A.S.).
